The Tailored Executive outfit is perfect for professional settings- this actually may be my favorite outfit yet! I really like grayscale outfits and had a lot of fun styling this one. Comment below where you would wear this to!

A flat-lay collage of a sophisticated winter outfit featuring a gray oversized coat, a black knit balaclava, a black and white printed scarf, a white button-up shirt, a black turtleneck sweater, gray wide-leg trousers, a black shoulder bag, and black block-heeled shoes.

The Shirt

This shirt is a classic layering essential. I’m usually always either wearing a button up collared shirt or a mock-neck underneath the topmost layer since it’s an easy way to cover your neck without compromising on style. I would go for the tall sizing so that it hangs longer than a normal shirt, covering the hip area. For this outfit the normal size would work as well but the tall sizing is more versatile!

You can tuck the shirt into the pants if you want. Personally, I would keep it untucked because it’s more comfortable and less likely to bulk up underneath the sweater + it helps add structure to the sweater so it doesn’t stick to you.

The Sweater

This is a slouchy black tunic sweater. It’s supposed to be oversized but I would still go maybe one more size above to achieve a truly oversized look. I picked the white blouse above to save the wide neck but you could also go for a mock neck long sleeve shirt or tank top if you get too overstimulated wearing tight long sleeve shirts. It’s very loose around the hem and is structured straight so it works really well for modest dressing!

The Pants

These pants are tweed which is a perfect thick material for the winter. They’re also comfortably wide- I don’t think the product image accurately reflects how truly baggy these are! They are perfect for colder business winter looks. Also they’re not really long like most wide pants are!

The Coat

This sleek coat is really nice. It has bell sleeves which I like, since there are already multiple long sleeve layers underneath the coat. The only issue is that this coat is so expensive lol I only realized after I used it in the collage (Probably just a brand thing if I were to guess). Anyways, any classic long grey blazer coat should work just as well!!!

I went with gray not black because it adds contrast to the middle layer. I also like that it’s open because it shows some of the black underneath so that it doesn’t look like a totally gray monochromatic outfit, so the heel choice can make sense. The blazer-like cut of the coat adds to the professional look of the outfit.

The Heels

These heels are so classy! I like that they’re closed toe so your toes don’t show. I also like that it has a short block heel so it’s more comfortable to walk in. The slight pattern of the shoes adds a subtle texture layer to the outfit and makes the shoe a bit more visually interesting than if it was just plain black. You can wear this with a black or gray sock (please not white though). I would recommend wearing it with opaque socks like these since it’ll look more professional but you can also wear it with casual socks if it’s too cold.

The Hijab

To add a break in the solid tones of the items I picked a hijab that has a busy pattern. It still fits within the grayscale theme so it doesn’t seem out of place but it really elevates the outfit. It’s a square hijab so you can wear it in many different styles that look professional. I would wear it in the classic turkish style with the ends of the hijab wrapped around the neck relatively tightly and tucked into the white blouse.

Don’t forget to straight pin the hijab to your undercap to avoid it slipping around throughout the day!

The Accessories

For accessories I went with a classic black shoulder bag to really bring out the black tones in the outfit and tie everything in together. Its minimalism adds to the professional feel of the outfit.

I also put in a balaclava as well!!! You could exchange this for a black scarf as well. I like the balaclava because it adds an extra layer of warmth up top since your neck and head have less layers. I picked an oversized one since it makes it easier to put it on and take it off without taking your hijab off with it. I also think the oversized balaclava (which is basically a glorified hood) is way nicer stylistically than the normal balaclavas (although admittedly less functional).
