Fall layering can be challenging especially with the unpredictable weather patterns (I still can’t believe we’re getting 80 degree days in November). That’s what makes this outfit perfect for fall- even if you take off the outer layer it will still look completely modest! Whether you’re meeting friends for a coffee, heading to a casual work setting, or just enjoying a weekend stroll, this outfit will meet all your needs!
Table of Contents
The Turtleneck
A good cream turtleneck goes a long way! This top is actually a sweatshirt which makes the outfit a bit more casual. It has a loose fit and comes in tall for extra coverage! What I like about this turtleneck specifically is that it has two small slits in the side which makes it perfect to pair with skirts. The slits prevent it from sticking to your butt which is a common issue with pretty much any top, even if it claims to be oversized. It also has a good sized neck- you can tuck your hijab in or leave it out and it will look nice either way!
The Skirt
I’ll be honest this skirt is the whole reason why I came up with this outfit. It has a nice floral pattern that works well for the fall and winter season, and paired with the other neutral items, really makes this whole outfit pop! It is also pretty loose and airy, so you can layer as much as you want underneath to stay warm without adding bulk! It’s also a REAL maxi skirt so you don’t have to worry about it being too short. It does seem like it can be transparent though, so make sure to wear a slip skirt underneath (I recommend this one).
The Blazer
Nothing like a blazer to add a touch of professionalism to an outfit. I was actually looking for a pink coat to go with this outfit and this blazer caught my eye instead. It works really well by adding a soft muted shade of pink that matches the skirt perfectly, making the whole outfit very aesthetically pleasing. It complements the flowiness of the skirt by adding structure to the outfit, and contrasts well with the rest of the colors. It’s also slightly oversized and falls below the butt so the sweater won’t stick out or bulk underneath it awkwardly!
The Boots
A pair of black boots is the perfect type of shoe to add to this outfit. They provide a natural contrast to the more feminine tones of the outfit without standing out too much. Not to mention that they’re perfect for fall and winter weather!
The Accessories
My rule of thumb is that if there is a color in a piece of clothing, that color should also be in a different item in the outfit. This adds a balanced and aesthetically pleasing feel to the outfit! An easy way to achieve this is through adding accessories. The black shoulder bag complements the boots while keeping the outfit polished and functional. The dark green hijab echoes the green tones in the skirt, bringing the outfit to complete harmony. I personally would wear the hijab tucked in to the turtleneck but any other style will work as well! I would also recommend wearing a light pink or cream underscarf underneath the hijab.
