This contemporary chic outfit is elegant and sophisticated, in an understated way! It has a long tunic and wide pants for the modesty points, with an extra mock neck layer underneath for warmth in the colder months. The dark blue adds a pop of color to an otherwise neutral palette to make the outfit special. It’s perfect for attending social events, visiting an art gallery, or a casual business setting!

The Tunic
This tunic is interesting. I like tunics, but they usually come in weird patterns (like this one), so they’re a bit of a challenge to style. They are definitely a hack when it comes to wearing pants since it makes it easy to achieve the rectangle look with less layers.
This particular tunic has a sort of abstract wavy vibe so I wanted to find items that emphasize the contemporary feel. I also like the cut of this tunic since it’s longer in the back than the front, making it fit better with stiff wide pants like the ones I chose for the outfit. Tunics that are the same length in the front and the back (unless they have a slit down the sides) don’t work very well for modest looks- they usually end up sticking to the hip area or bulking weirdly.
The Pants
These pants are super nice! They’re wide but not crazy wide and form more of a skirt shape. The beige tone matches with the tan from the tunic as well. Plus they’re plain, which offsets the pattern of the tunic.
The Mock Neck
A mock neck layer is always necessary in any outfit in my opinion. Since we are in the colder months, I opted for a long sleeve thermal mock neck layer so you can easily wear the outfit without a jacket. It’s white to match the white tones in the tunic, and because other colors usually tend to show through a shirt even if the shirt is not transparent. If it’s too cold to wear this outfit without a jacket, I recommend you go for a long black coat!
The Heels
I like low heels because they’re easy to walk in and not super flashy. These heels have a closed toe so you can wear socks without it looking weird (go for opaque socks like these). The pointy toe and small heel adds sophistication to the outfit without standing out much.
The Hijab
Having just one pop of color in the outfit felt a bit weird, so I matched the blue of the tunic with the blue of the hijab. I went for a viscose hijab for two reasons: extra warmth, and adding weight to the otherwise mostly loose and flowy outfit.
The Accessories
I picked a small black shoulder bag to match with the shoes and the black tones of the tunic. It’s big enough to carry any essentials you need to attend a social event, without overwhelming the outfit. Its minimalistic design also allows it to balance the outfit without adding excess patterns/textures.
