The Casually Glamorous outfit is a look that narrowly escapes monochromaticity with a few choice accessories, elevating the look from simply casual to casually glamorous!!! Let me know where you would wear this outfit to in the comments below!
Table of Contents
The Shirt Dress
This is a short sleeve tunic perfect for winter! The short sleeves allow you to customize the temperature of the outfit to best suit you. You can wear a long sleeve layer underneath the turtleneck in addition to the cardigan and coat for extra warmth. If you get hot easily, then you can forego the coat and the long sleeve layer.
You can go for a taller size to get more length on the tunic but it’s long enough with its original sizing to stay modest. With the length of the cardigan, I think the tall sizing might fit better but honestly it doesn’t matter that much, either could work.
The Cardigan
This is a pretty chunky knit oversized cardigan which is probably enough on its own for chillier days. It’s pretty long so it reaches slightly below the mid-thigh (depending on how tall you are of course) which makes it useful for wearing with pants and skirts where you want to cover up the hip area! The beige color is also a neutral that can go with lots of different base layers and accessories, making it a versatile cardigan.
The Pants
These are wide pleated cream pants. They’re a bit see-through so I would wear pant slips underneath like this one, or this one. They’re made out of lighter fabric so good for the warmer winter days, or if you know you’re going to be in a heated area. You could also wear fleece-lined tights underneath if you want to stay warm all the time!
The Coat
This is a water-resistant fake leather trench coat, perfect for rainy or snowy winter days. I picked this jacket because I wanted the color scheme to stay consistent with or without the jacket. When you put the jacket on only the button up shirt will show through so you will still have the beige on top of white pattern as opposed to beige on beige on white.
You can also wear this without a belt for a more modest look.
The Shoes
The cream and yellow shoes are a subtle deviation from the monochromatic look we’ve been building so far. They’re comfy and add a casual feel to the outfit. These shoes are also very versatile as they match with a lot of different colors.
The Hijab
First featured in The Iconic Movie Outfit, this hijab is the first obvious deviation from the beige monochrome. At this point I knew I wanted to use the burgundy bag because dark red colors go well with pale yellow and cream (like in the shoes) but I needed something to tie everything together. I contemplated using a solid burgundy hijab but everything was a solid color so it seemed kinda off. This hijab was perfect because it had burgundy in it but also some gold and cream tones, so it makes the color scheme make sense!
I would wear the hijab tied grandma style with the bottom ends sticking out of the turtleneck but you could also wear it in the classic turkish style tucked inside the turtleneck for a more professional look. I would also pin the hijab to the undercap because these kinds of scarves tend to slide around quite a bit.
The Accessories
For accessories I went with a large burgundy tote bag since I wanted to incorporate the burgundy color into the outfit. This particular bag is very functional, with plenty of space for your essentials. The leather texture of the bag contributes to the glamorous vibe of the outfit, with it’s functionality emphasizing the casual aspect.
