I’ve been wearing an undercap for as long as I’ve been wearing the hijab, and I can’t imagine wearing my hijab any other way. This is definitely a hijabi essential!

Keep your hair secure!

Wearing an undercap is an easy way to keep your hair secure. Your hair tie is less likely to come loose, you won’t have to deal with your hair falling out from the back of your hijab, or your hair peeking from the front of the hijab. It also prevents your hair from showing if you are wearing a more transparent hijab, like chiffon. Also I don’t know if this is just me but sometimes strands of my hair will stick straight through the hijab regardless of the material so having an extra layer helps prevent that as well.

Prevent hijab slippage!

Having a hijab undercap prevents or helps stop your hijab from slipping since it’s usually rougher than your hair. This is especially useful for lighter fabrics like chiffon or satin. You can also pin the hijab to the undercap to maintain a specific style without having it shift around through the day.

Avoid weird hijab shapes!

I know we’ve all been there. The hijab undercap won’t fully save you from bad hijab days but it definitely makes it way more manageable. It’s easier to mold your hair into a perfect round half circle at the back of your head for a smooth hijab finish by just stuffing your hair inside the undercap. You won’t have to deal with odd ponytail shapes showing through the back of your hijab!

Personally I prefer the tube underscarf to any other kind (I’ve tried the full coverage one and the one that’s closed at the end like a beanie and they both don’t hold up well throughout the day). I like the tube to be long so that I can fully cover my hair- always check the back of your head before you go out since there may be an opening in your underscarf that shows through the hijab.

If you have really long hair then you can always sew two tube undercaps together for an extra long one! Or you can just buy an extra long one, I randomly came across this store here which sells them! I didn’t know extra long tube undercaps actually existed lol.
