I personally don’t use the straight pin to keep my hijab secure under my chin since I’m scared of accidentally stabbing myself. I do use the straight pin though for plenty of other things:
Different hijab styles!
There are tons of hijab styles for which the straight pin is necessary! For example, intricate draped styles like the Turkish hijab often require a straight pin to secure the folds and layers, ensuring they stay in place all day. Similarly, the classic over-the-shoulder style benefits from a pin to hold the fabric at the shoulder or under the chin, creating a polished and elegant look.
Closing clothing openings!
The straight pin isn’t just for hijabs- you can use it to close any openings in clothing. For example you can use it to close gaps in button-down shirts, or closing necklines, or pinning loose pieces of fabric like wrap skirts in place. It’s also perfect for making temporary fixes to loose seams or securing a cardigan that lost its buttons.
