This post is part of an essentials series which contains all types of hijabs and their pros and cons! You can also find a lot of different ways to style each hijab here!
Pros
- Comfortable
Jersey hijabs are definitely the most comfortable hijab in my opinion. It’s softer material and just feels better than chiffon or other similar materials. - Doesn’t slide
Jersey hijabs don’t slide so you don’t need extra pins to pin it down. - Perfect for winter
I like jersey hijabs better in the winter since they are usually thicker material than its chiffon counterpart so it keeps my head warmer. - Durable
High-quality jersey hijabs are long-lasting, even after frequent washes, making them a good investment. You also don’t have to wash them on delicate and they’re less likely to stain than other materials. - Not transparent
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Most jersey hijabs (with the exceptions usually being light colors like white) are opaque, which makes it really easy to wear without stressing.
Cons
- Doesn’t work for all occasions
Jersey hijabs are more casual (unlike chiffon for example, which you can wear for all occasions) so they don’t really work for fancier occasions. - Warmer in the summer
While they’re made out of breathable fabric, they’re definitely a warmer hijab choice in the summer than what might be comfortable. - Difficult to style
It’s hard to style jersey hijabs beyond two or three different looks, because of the way the material drapes and its thickness. It can end up looking a bit bulky if you fold it over several times.
Jersey hijabs are the hijabs of my childhood. I abandoned them for a couple of years in favor of chiffon hijabs but now I’ve regained my appreciation for them. As far as hijabs go, these are by far the most comfortable and the easiest to wear.
